Welcome to the new Chiari Care Blog. We are excited to bring you this new forum on the Chiari I Malformation, syringomyelia, and related disorders. Nurse Practitioners, Diane Mueller, ND, RN, FNP-BC, Kimberly Sexton, MSN, RN, FNP-BC, both with specialty experience in these disorder, and myself will be posting on a variety of related topics for your interest. On occasion, the Blog will feature other contributors.

We hope the Chiari Care Blog becomes an informative and engaging site for all of you. Please contribute your comments. If there are questions, please remember they should be of a general nature.

We cannot provide medical advice on this forum.

I have loss of feeling in my left side. My left eye is blurry, pressure that starts at base of skull that causes headaches , dizziness , flickers. I did have MRI with and without contrast to show my tonsils dropped to 4mm. Help

I would like to be evaluated by Dr. John Oro.

I live in KY and am working on getting a referral to your office. My insurance will only pay for services in KY unless I can submit the proper paperwork stating there are no Chiari Specialists here. I've been to 4 neurosurgeons, 2 neurologists, 2 pain specialists, etc... I have Chiari I Malformation. My right cerebellar tonsil extends 12mm below the level of the foramen magnum. I have pages of MRI, CT, Myelogram, Lumbar Puncture and Bloodwork Reports. I also have my CD's with images.

im 13 . ive had chiari since 2nd grade . i hvaent noticed any symtoms ever since ive had it but my brain stem is longer than most. and if it grows at least 2 millimeters it will combine with my spinal cord and i will have to have surgury for it to be cut out

My boyfriend has Arnold Chiari plus chiari 2... Its hard for him everyday. His vertigo goes out of control every single day. All of the "related symptoms", he has EVERY SINGLE symptom.. And the thing is, we live in CT and theres is NOTHING here for anyone with chiari. He is debilitated at most times, I know for a fact that every single second is spent in pain and theres no answer to anything.. Theres nothing that can help. They won't even prescribe him pain pills!!! Have we tried pain management ? No not yet.. But were at a loss of where to go and what to do.
